On 17 September 2026, the NHPig consortium organised an open public outreach event entitled “Introducing NHPig” at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Austria.
The event brought together researchers, students, early-career scientists and other stakeholders to explore the project’s objectives, scientific activities and emerging results. Presentations covered innovative applications of minipig and micropig models, audio analysis of minipig vocalisations, translational safety biomarkers and transcriptome research in Göttingen Minipigs.
The session highlighted the growing importance of minipig models in translational biomedical research and their potential to support the reduction of non-human primate use in biomedical safety assessment.
